Despite the emphasis on joy during this time of year, there are many people who
feel blue, instead of red and green. Unfortunate life events, sad memories of
Christmas-time trauma or loss can make Advent and Christmas a time of sorrow.
If you find this to be true for you, there is a worship opportunity you may find
uplifting. It is called a Blue Christmas Service.

It will be hosted by the FOCUS churches at First Church Reformed on Wednesday, December 14, at 7pm in the
sanctuary. Parking is free. Lots of candlelight. The Rev. Dr. Christopher Hill of
Morning Star Baptist Church is preaching a homily, and that church’s choir will
also sing. In addition to lamenting our own losses we are coming together to
lament the community loss of life in Albany due to gun violence.
