First Presbyterian Church re-opening plan:
First Presbyterian Church has postponed holding in-person worship services. We were scheduled to begin on November 29. While our safety protocols are in place, the current rise in the number of virus cases has caused us to pause reopening for in-person worship. We care deeply about the health and well-being of congregants and visitors. The Session of FPC (the decision making board of the church) receives regular updates on the virus from the Reopening Coordinating Committee.
We continue to live stream on Facebook our Sunday 10:00am worship services. Our Christmas Eve service on December 24 is at 7:30pm, and our Christmas Day service on December 25 is at 11am. Here is the link for the upcoming service—come back weekly for a new link. Click here for Sunday’s bulletin.
If you’re unable to live stream on Facebook and would like to receive a CD of the service, please contact the church office at 518-449-7332 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Instructions for live streaming on Facebook: we’ll normally start broadcasting about 3 min before 10am with prelude music. Any time after that go the main FaceBook page for First Presbyterian Church of Albany. Very close to the top (or maybe just by scrolling down slightly) you’ll see the video with the words “Live now” or something similar. Click on the video and it will open into a larger window and play.
HELPFUL TIP: if you don’t see the livestream on the home page, refresh / reload your browser screen.
Below is other information pertaining to other aspects of the church’s ministry during this time of pandemic.
Congregation members are reaching out to those among us who may be particularly vulnerable during this time. Please continue to check on and care for one another. Miriam, Glenn, the Deacons and Membership Committee are working together to ensure that this natural response is organized and sustained. If you know of someone with particular needs, please reach out to Glenn or Miriam to let us know. If you would like to support the work of the Deacons and volunteer to help us stay in touch with the congregation, please let us know.
Other Church Events
Many events normally held at the church are being held on zoom. Check our eblasts to find out these details.
Currently several of the recovery groups (HA and AA) are meeting again in our building following strict COVID safety guidelines. We are currently not opening the church to other events. We regret the difficulty this presents to many of our building use partners and wish to do whatever we can to help mitigate that stress.
Office Administrator Jamie and Financial Administrator Carlie are both working from their homes, coming into the church office one day a week. You can contact them through their church mails: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Communication with Congregation
Eblasts are sent to people who are on our emailing list 2 to 3 times a week. If you’d like to be included, please sign up to receive email. If you would like it surface mailed to you, also contact Jamie. Click here to read past eblasts.
